Synopsis
Stand to attention as M*A*S*H Season Eight is released on DVD. Released
in a three-disc collectible box set, this avant-garde and award winning
eighth series includes 650 minutes of laughs.
As
the troops valiantly battle the seemingly endless war, the medical
corps at the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital face their own
obstacles of apathy and establishment. M*A*S*H Season Eight is
particularly noteworthy for the two-part episode Goodbye Radar, which
sees the departure of company clerk Radar O'Reilly (Gary Burghoff), the
only ensemble member to have featured in the original film.
The
departure of Radar sets the scene for the Emmy Award nominated episode
'Period of Adjustment' where a bumbling Klinger struggles to fill
Radar's shoes. Gone but not forgotten, news soon arrives of Radar's
visit to B.J. Honeycutt's (Mike Farrell) family, which devastates an
already homesick Captain.
Loretta Swift was commended at the
1980 Emmy Awards for her role as Margaret Hotlips Houlihan in this
season. Her most memorable episodes from this series include 'Are You
Now, Margaret', where she is accused of being a communist sympathiser by
a visiting congressional aide. Harry Morgan was also commended for his
role as Colonel Henry Potter with a notable performance in 'Old
Soldiers', where he receives news about the last of his compatriots
from WW1.
Add the three-disc box set of M*A*S*H Season Eight
